Small cells lift off in Azerbajan as ip.access takes to the skies

ip.access, a leading small cell developer and manufacturer confirmed its partnership with Azerfon to deploy picocells in Baku’s Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Azerbaijan and also onto Azal Airlines’ aircraft operating from the capital’s airport. Nar Mobile has now become the first mobile company in Azerbaijan to offer in-flight mobile communication services – on board of the Azerbaijan Airlines fleet. The partnership will allow passengers flying to or from Baku on Azal flights – to be able to make and receive calls, send SMS and surf the internet from their own mobile phones using the on board Nar Mobile network. As announced earlier this year, leading inflight connectivity provider OnAir is providing Azerfon with the technical solution for this project.
