Latest generation PT6 turboshaft wins key EASA certification

Pratt & Whitney Canada’s latest generation turboshaft engine, the PT6C-67E, set to power Eurocopter’s new EC175 medium twin helicopter, has just received design approval from the European Aviation Safety Agency. EASA  issued a validation Type Certificate and Type Certificate Data Sheet (TCDS) for the PT6C-67E on November 9, 2012, clearing the way for its future operation in Europe. The PT6C-67E is the latest turboshaft engine in the PT6C-67 family for the medium class helicopter segment. It builds on the experience of the PT6 family of turboprop and turboshaft engines, bringing unmatched reliability to a market where dispatch, availability and safety are paramount. The PT6C-67E incorporates P&WC’s latest technological innovations for enhanced power and fuel efficiency for longer range, increased payload and enhanced pilot experience.
