Finnair begins employee consultations in Technical Operations organisation

Finnair starts employee consultations in its Technical Operations organization on plans and alternatives to improve the efficiency of operations and adjust technical organization to changes made in 2012. In 2012, the size of Finnair’s operated fleet decreased and the company stopped offering maintenance services to external customers. The plans for Technical Operations include:
– Possible outsourcing of the following activities: c-checks for narrow body aircraft, brake and wheel repairs and calibration laboratory
– Centralizing maintenance operations into three hangars to improve resource utilization
If implemented, the plans could result in a decrease of 310 positions from the 900 positions currently in Finnair Technical Operations.
