WestJet reports decreased third quarter net income

WestJet released its third quarter 2014 results, with net earnings of CAD52.2m, compared to CAD65.1m in the third quarter of 2013, down 19.8%. Based on the trailing twelve months, the airline achieved a return on invested capital of 13.8%, compared with the 13.7% reported in the previous quarter. These adjusted results exclude a pre-tax non-cash loss of CAD45.5m associated with the previously disclosed sale of 10 of its oldest Boeing 737 aircraft.
