North Slope Borough signs for S-92 helicopter

North Slope Borough (NSB), Alaska, has signed for its first-ever S-92 helicopter. The announcement was made at the 2015 Helicopter Association International Heli-Expo show. The helicopter will be used for the critical mission of search and rescue operations (SAR) for all NSB residents. The aircraft was selected to provide a safe, efficient and reliable airborne response to aero medical evacuation (medevac), SAR and other emergencies. NSB is located above the Arctic Circle and operates under some of the harshest cold weather conditions in the world, with temperatures as cold as -55 degrees C with the wind chill. Delivery is expected in 2016.
