El Al Israel Airlines announced an aircraft acquisition program of wide-body aircraft, conducting exclusive negotiations with Boeing for the purchase and lease of 15 wide-body 787-8 and 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft to commence arriving in mid-2017. During the next five years, these aircraft are going to replace the 747-400 and 767 fleets and are designated to fly to medium and long haul destinations (New York, Boston, Toronto, Bangkok, Beijing, Mumbai, South Africa and more). The company reported profit for the 2nd quarter totaled approx. US$17.3m, thus constituting about 3.4% of the turnover and a growth of approx. 6.2%, compared to a profit of nearly US%16.3m in the second quarter of the previous year, which was about 2.9% of the turnover.
