VAS acquires Boeing 777-200ER for teardown and surplus parts distribution

VAS Aero Services, a global leader in aviation logistics and aftermarket services, has acquired a Boeing 777-200ER aircraft from Sky Leasing, a full-service aircraft leasing company based in San Francisco, CA. The SKY Leasing-owned aircraft (serial number 28409) was previously operated by Malaysia Airlines. VAS will manage the teardown of the aircraft and provide aftermarket sales and distribution of the surplus parts through VAS’s worldwide 777 customer base. This is the second Boeing 777 aircraft in the last four months that VAS has acquired for teardown. The aircraft will be disassembled by VAS’s partner Tarmac Aerosave at Tarmac’s facility in Teruel, Spain. VAS will harvest major assemblies and components from the airframe to support its worldwide OEM, airline and MRO customer base.
