CDB Aviation signs MoU for 45 Airbus A320neo Family jets

Airbus has announced that Dublin-based CDB Aviation Lease Finance DAC (CDB Aviation) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for 30 A320neo jets and 15 A321neos, with cabin configuration and engine choice to be decided at a later date. In addition to this MoU, 15 A320neos from a previous CDB Aviation order are being changed to A321neos.
According to Peter Chang, CDB Aviation’s president and CEO who took the helm in February this year: “We are investing in the A320neo because we believe our customers will benefit from such an advanced aircraft. These aircraft will strengthen our overall aircraft portfolio and assist in the growth of our customer base
“Today, our leasing platform is based on a strong funding source, strong team with global reach.”
Airbus Commercial Aircraft Chief Operating Officer – Customers, John Leahy is quoted as saying that “It is a pleasure to expand our partnership with CDB Aviation. This is another endorsement from the lessor community for the NEO, and takes our NEO customer base well over 90.
“Our order book for the A320neo Family increases weekly and its 60 per cent market share is proof it is the single aisle aircraft of choice.”
The A320neo Family includes the very latest technologies, such as new-generation engines and Sharklets which, combined, will deliver at least 15 percent fuel savings at delivery and 20 percent by 2020. Airbus has received over 5,000 orders from more than 90 customers since its launch in 2010 and the A320neo Family has captured an approximate 60 percent share of the market.
CDB Aviation is a wholly owned Irish subsidiary of China Development Bank Financial Leasing Co, Ltd, which was established 33 years ago, and is predominantly backed by the China Development Bank under the jurisdiction of the State Council of China, while currently operating as the world’s largest development finance institution. It is also China’s largest bank for foreign investment, finance cooperation and long-term lending.
