Having joined the low-cost carrier easyJet late in 2016 as its Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), current changes to the management structure will see the top marketing role become superfluous, with company CEO, Johan Lundgren, confirming it had been agreed that this was the “right time” for Peter Duffy to leave.
Duffy’s remit when he joined easyJet was to oversee all revenue generation, marketing and digital elements; accountability for pricing, revenue management and ancillary revenue will now transfer from the carrier’s commercial department to Robert Carey, currently easyJet’s airline strategy and network director.
Part of the company’s restructuring program will see the creation of a new role – Chief Data Officer (CDO) – and the recruitment process for a suitable candidate has now begun. The CDO will be responsible for reporting to Lundgren and, according to easyJet, “give greater focus and weight to the airline’s use of this data to improve the customer proposition, drive revenue, reduce cost and improve operational reliability.”
Lundgren took over the role of CEO last year after the departure of Carolyn McCall, who took up a new position at Independent Television (ITV), while company Communications Director Paul Moore also left to join McCall at ITV.
