On Sunday, Febr. 18, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid the foundation stone for the much-delayed, Rs 16,700 crore Navi Mumbai International Airport. The new airport is an alternative to the existing Chhatrapati Shivaji Internatioanl Airport of Mumbai, which is known as the world’s busiest single-runway airport and will have two parallel runways to handle close to 80 flights an hour. Mumbai’s new airport is supposed to see its first flight in 2019 and will be built by the state-run Cidco and the GVK Group which also run the Mumbai international airport.
