Turkish Airlines, Türkiye’s national carrier, is set to significantly expand its fleet with a substantial order of 220 Airbus aircraft. This order comprises 150 popular Airbus A321s and 70 of the highly modern and efficient A350 wide-body aircraft, including 50 A350-900s, 15 A350-1000s, and five A350F freighters. This comes on the heels of two previous orders placed by the airline for a total of 14 A350-900s in July and September 2023.
With this latest order, Turkish Airlines’ total Airbus orderbook will reach 504, out of which 212 have already been delivered. The airline will acquire 100 Trent XWB-84 engines and 40 Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines, solidifying its position as the world’s largest operator of Trent XWB engines.
The delivery of these engines will power A350-900s, A350-1000s and A350Fs between 2025 and 2033, with Rolls-Royce‘s TotalCare service covering their health and maintenance. This significant order will complement Turkish Airlines’ existing fleet, including 40 Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-84-powered A350-900s already in service and on order, along with 26 Trent 700-powered A330s.
