Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) has sealed a multi-year agreement with FLY91 to oversee the maintenance, repair and overhaul of the PW127M engines propelling its ATR 72-600 turboprop passenger aircraft fleet. FLY91, the fresh regional airline venture by Just Udo Aviation Private Limited in India, is poised to expand its fleet by the close of 2024, aiming to enhance local connectivity to underserved cities across the nation.
“Customer service evaluation often hinges on aircraft availability, a critical factor,” highlighted Irene Makris, Vice President of Customer Service at Pratt & Whitney Canada. “The operational readiness and reliability of engines play a pivotal role in ensuring timely take-offs of commercial flights. With four decades of expertise in maintaining the PW100 engine family, we are confident in delivering excellent dispatch reliability for FLY91’s ATR 72-600 fleet, meeting passenger expectations seamlessly.”
Manoj Chacko, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of FLY91, emphasised the significance of the agreement with Pratt & Whitney Canada in guaranteeing reliable regional air travel from their base at Goa’s Manohar International Airport. He stated, “Our commitment lies in offering dependable, sustainable, and scalable air transportation services to bolster India’s regional connectivity. We firmly believe that our ATR aircraft, powered by P&WC’s PW127M engines, will be instrumental in achieving this goal.”
Celebrating its 40th anniversary and surpassing 200 million flying hours, Pratt & Whitney Canada lauds the PW100 engine family, propelling 90% of regional turboprop aircraft in the 30- to 90-passenger category globally. PW100-powered regional turboprops boast fuel consumption reductions of 25 to 40% and correspondingly diminish CO2 emissions, compared to similar-sized jets, particularly on typical regional routes spanning 350 miles or less.
