West Star Aviation has released that after an extensive succession planning process, Stephen Maiden has been named as the new CEO, while Allen McReynolds, the current Chief Operating Officer, will also take on the role of President, overseeing all West Star operations. Jim Rankin, who has led the company as CEO since 2018, has been elevated to the role of Executive Chairman of the Board.
Maiden became part of the West Star team in November 2023 following the acquisition of Jet East, a Gama Aviation Company, where he was President and CEO. Maiden began his aviation maintenance career in the United States Air Force, specialising as an Electrical and Environmental Specialist on F-16s. His nearly 30-year career has seen him advance through various roles, from Avionics Technician to Team Lead, Manager, and Director of Quality and Operations. For the past 18 years, he has served as CEO in the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) sector. Maiden's extensive experience in aviation maintenance, combined with his deep understanding of the MRO industry and dedication to building strong relationships with employees and customers, is expected to drive continued innovation at West Star.
McReynolds was appointed as West Star's COO in September 2023, shortly before the company acquired Jet East and significantly expanded its maintenance operations. In his newly expanded role as President and COO, McReynolds will take on greater responsibility and oversight of all business operations. With over two decades of experience in maintenance across business aviation, commercial airlines and defence, McReynolds brings a wealth of knowledge to the role. Prior to joining West Star, he served as Managing Partner at SeaTec Consulting and held key leadership positions, including Vice President of Global Aftermarket Sales for Textron Aviation and Executive Vice President of Operations for Hawker Beechcraft.
