Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH (EFW), Airbus' competence centre for passenger-to-freighter conversions (P2F), lightweight components and cabin systems, has achieved a significant milestone by producing a total of six-million lightweight panels at its facilities in Dresden and Kodersdorf (Görlitz). As a first-tier supplier to Airbus for over three decades, EFW's innovative products are featured in more than 14,000 Airbus aircraft worldwide.
This year alone, EFW will equip over 700 Airbus aircraft with complete interior kits of lightweight products. These kits are installed across a wide range of aircraft, including the narrow-body A320 family, wide-body models such as the A330, A300 and A310, as well as long-haul aircraft like the A350 and the iconic A380. Airbus' freighter aircraft, the Beluga and Beluga XL, also benefit from EFW's advanced solutions.
EFW's lightweight products include flat floor panels for cabins and cargo areas, cargo linings, functional partitions, bulletproof cockpit doors and complex cabin solutions such as crew rest compartments and lavatory modules. Among its latest innovations is the “Airspace L Bin,” an overhead luggage bin for the A320 family, which offers 60% more hand luggage capacity, meeting the evolving needs of airlines and passengers.
Recognised by Airbus with multiple awards for its services, EFW has evolved from a component manufacturer to a provider of advanced design solutions for cabin systems. This transformation is built on the company's expertise in production processes and product design, solidifying its position as a leader in the aviation industry.
