Volocopter, a pioneer in sustainable urban air mobility (UAM), and Jet Systems Hélicoptères Services, a leading licensed air service provider with over thirty years of passenger flight experience, have announced an agreement to introduce electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft services in France.
This long-term agreement includes the initial delivery of two VoloCity eVTOL aircraft once certified by the European Union Aviation Safety Authority (EASA). Volocopter will contribute its expertise in product development, maintenance, pilot training, and VoloIQ, the digital backbone for fleet management and operations. Meanwhile, Jet Systems Hélicoptères Services will provide general airline services, including securing personnel (ground crew, pilots, and maintenance), and will coordinate with cities and infrastructure partners to establish operations.
The services will first launch in Paris, where European and French authorities have already approved an extensive network of eVTOL flight routes and infrastructure. This foundation is the result of years of collaboration with Groupe ADP and discussions with the Direction Générale de l'Aviation Civile (DGAC) to ensure the safety of eVTOL operations both in the air and on the ground. Following the Paris launch, the partnership will expand to France's southwest and southeast regions, leveraging Jet Systems' established helicopter routes, which currently accommodate up to 15,000 passengers annually.
