Saab has entered into a long-term framework agreement with French aerospace maintenance specialist Sabena technics for complex modification work on its GlobalEye airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft. The agreement, signed as part of Saab’s broader industrial collaboration strategy, will provide a foundation for ongoing cooperation between the two companies.
Under this new arrangement, Sabena technics will deliver extensive aircraft modification services for the GlobalEye platform, reinforcing Saab’s ability to meet increasing global demand for its AEW&C solution. The GlobalEye is based on Bombardier’s Global 6000/6500 business jet, which is transformed through a series of advanced and technically demanding modifications to accommodate state-of-the-art surveillance and communication systems.
“This reenforces Saab’s commitment to collaborate with French industry while supporting the expansion of our modification capacity to meet the increasing demand for GlobalEye. Sabena technics has the expertise and experience to provide this support,” said Lars Tossman, Head of Saab’s Aeronautics business area.
The modification process for GlobalEye involves integrating a sophisticated suite of sensors, mission systems, and communications technologies into the aircraft. Such work requires not only advanced technical knowledge but also a dedicated, highly skilled workforce capable of executing these complex adaptations to rigorous aerospace standards.
With this agreement, Saab not only strengthens its capacity to deliver GlobalEye systems to its international customers but also deepens industrial ties with France. The collaboration with Sabena technics reflects Saab’s strategy of leveraging global partnerships to support its defence and aerospace programmes, while also expanding its industrial footprint within Europe.
