Porter Airlines, in partnership with Embraer CAE Training Services (ECTS), has expanded its pilot training capabilities by introducing a state‑of‑the‑art Embraer E195‑E2 full‑flight simulator (FFS) at CAE’s Montreal, Canada, training centre. Training commenced in May 2025, supported by ECTS, a joint venture between Embraer and CAE.
The simulator is based on CAE’s latest generation 7000XR-Series platform and incorporates the advanced CAE Prodigy visual system. Developed and manufactured in Montreal, it provides a highly realistic and immersive training environment using the CAE Prodigy Image Generator, which leverages Epic Games’ Unreal Engine for photorealistic renderings and enhanced moving models.
This investment allows Porter pilots to complete initial and recurrent E2 training closer to home, supporting the airline’s rapid fleet growth and creating skilled aviation jobs in Canada. Porter has already taken delivery of 46 Embraer E195‑E2 aircraft, with plans for up to 100 in total. The expanded training capacity ensures the airline can meet growing demand while maintaining high operational and safety standards.
CAE’s Division President for Commercial Aviation, Michel Azar‑Hmouda, welcomed Porter as a new airline partner, emphasising that the joint venture with Embraer is focused on advancing aviation safety and delivering high‑quality training solutions to support the expanding global E2 fleet.
Beyond Montreal, ECTS operates E2 FFS in Singapore and Madrid and delivers training on Embraer Phenom business jets in multiple international locations, including the United States, United Kingdom, Brazil and Austria. This growing training network underlines ECTS’s commitment to supporting global operators with advanced pilot training infrastructure.
