GE Aerospace has announced that low-cost carrier AirAsia will adopt its Fuel Insight platform to enhance fuel efficiency across the airline’s fleet. This move represents a renewed collaboration between AirAsia and GE Aerospace’s Software as a Service (SaaS) business, highlighting the reliability and proven benefits of the technology.
Fuel Insight will provide the AirAsia Aviation Group, covering all its air operator certificates (AOCs) in Southeast Asia, with a group-wide solution to optimise fuel usage and improve flight operations. By harnessing advanced analytics and tools based on real operational and flight data, AirAsia’s operations team will identify opportunities to enhance fuel performance, refine route planning, and reduce unnecessary fuel consumption. These insights are expected to deliver significant cost savings, improve operational reliability, and strengthen sustainability efforts by targeting reductions in avoidable fuel burn.
Datuk Captain Chester Voo, Deputy Group CEO (Airline Operations) of AirAsia Aviation Group, described the partnership as “a strategic step forward in strengthening how we manage fuel efficiency across the Group.” He emphasised that GE Aerospace’s technology allows the airline to make smarter, data-informed decisions, supporting both cost-efficiency and sustainability objectives. This, in turn, enables AirAsia to operate more efficiently while offering competitive fares to passengers.
Through this partnership, AirAsia aims to leverage advanced analytics to drive both financial and environmental benefits. The adoption of Fuel Insight underscores the airline’s commitment to operational excellence and sustainability, demonstrating how innovative technology can support smarter, greener aviation practices across the region.
