The Blackhawk Group (TBG), a provider of turboprop performance solutions, has acquired Alaska-based Silver Sky Aviation. The transaction establishes Wasilla as the sixth location in TBG’s expanding Performance Center Network and extends the company’s footprint into one of the world’s fastest-growing turboprop markets, where performance is a critical requirement. TBG is a portfolio company of New State Capital Partners.
Alaska has experienced strong growth in turboprop operations, driven by the combination of range, speed and payload offered by turbine-powered aircraft, together with the reliability required for operations in harsh, cold-weather environments. As one of the few facilities in Alaska able to support this demand, Silver Sky’s Wasilla facility has built a strong reputation over more than a decade by delivering comprehensive maintenance and performance upgrade services.
Silver Sky brings significant experience in supporting King Air, Caravan, Kodiak and PC-12 aircraft, including multiple Blackhawk and Finnoff performance conversions, making it a strong strategic fit with TBG’s core business activities.
Chad Cundiff, CEO of TBG commented on the acquisition: “Silver Sky provides a tremendous opportunity to expand The Blackhawk Group’s support of Alaskan aviation.” He continued “Turboprops are a lifeline for operators in the region, and many already benefit from Blackhawk and Finnoff upgrades. Silver Sky’s reputation for technical expertise, customer support, and operational excellence – combined with the resources of The Blackhawk Group – will accelerate capability expansion while creating new career opportunities for the Silver Sky team.”
“Silver Sky has always been dedicated to providing the highest quality aviation maintenance services in Alaska,” added Aaron McCarty, owner and founder of Silver Sky. “Joining The Blackhawk Group allows us to expand our capabilities, strengthen partnerships with local operators, and create new opportunities and benefits for our team while maintaining our focus on safety and reliability.”
