M1 Support Services (M1) has been awarded a contract modification valued at US$601.1 million to continue providing aviation maintenance and related support services for the US Army’s flight training operations at Fort Rucker, Alabama. The modification extends M1’s existing contract and has an estimated completion date of January 15, 2027, reinforcing the company’s long-standing role in supporting one of the world’s largest military flight training programmes.
Under the contract, M1 Support Services will deliver a comprehensive range of maintenance services in support of Army flight training, including organisational, intermediate and limited depot-level maintenance. These services support a fleet of more than 500 rotary-wing aircraft operated by the US Army and US Air Force, including AH-64 Apache, UH-60 Black Hawk, CH-47 Chinook, UH-72 Lakota and TH-1 aircraft. The aircraft are dispersed across five primary airfields at Fort Rucker, reflecting the scale and complexity of the training environment.
M1’s scope of work supports a high-tempo operation, with aircraft flying up to 400 sorties per day and accumulating more than 200,000 flight hours annually. To meet these operational demands, M1 employs a workforce of more than 3,000 personnel, including maintenance technicians, aircrew and support staff. Operations are conducted on a continuous three-shift basis, providing 24-hour, 365-day support to ensure aircraft availability, safety and mission readiness.
George Krivo, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of M1 Support Services, expressed gratitude to support flight training at the Army Aviation Center of Excellence: “M1 stands for ‘Mission First,’ and we dedicate ourselves every day to ensure aircraft are well maintained and available to train the next generation of Army Aviators.”
