Teledyne Controls has launched its GroundLink Edge Computing Platform (ECP) and AppLink cloud service following US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Supplemental Type Certificate approval for the Boeing 737 series.

The new platform enables airlines to remotely deploy, update and scale onboard software applications across their fleets without aircraft downtime, hardware modifications or aircraft-level certification for each new application. The system is managed by operators through Teledyne’s AppLink cloud service.

The initial Boeing 737 certification marks the first step in bringing the software-defined aircraft data platform to commercial fleets, with certification for other aircraft types set to follow.

GroundLink ECP provides an open onboard edge computing environment, integrating 5G cellular, Wi-Fi, Ethernet and ARINC 429/717 interfaces with an ARINC 679- and OCI-compliant application server. Operators can remotely deploy and manage applications developed internally, by Teledyne or by certified third parties.

“The launch of GroundLink ECP represents a transformative step forward for our customers and for the industry,” said Mehrdad Radmehr, President of Teledyne Controls. “By giving operators direct control over onboard applications, ECP unlocks new ways to improve operations, support flight crews and accelerate innovation.”
