Iberia has secured approval from Spain’s aviation safety authority to carry out heavy maintenance on the entire Airbus A350 fleet, the airline said.
The Spanish Aviation Safety and Security Agency (AESA) granted Iberia’s Heavy Maintenance division the authorisation without operational limitations, giving the company full maintenance capabilities for the A350 for the first time.
The approval follows two years of work involving more than 150 actions covering training, engineering, production, materials, equipment, infrastructure, documentation, organisation, quality and IT systems, Iberia said.
Iberia said the unrestricted approval from the outset reflected the confidence of Spanish aviation authorities in its maintenance capabilities.
The authorisation strengthens Iberia Maintenance’s position in the aircraft maintenance market and is expected to create new opportunities for the expansion of its maintenance business, the airline said.
