Egypt’s Red Sea Airlines has signed an agreement with SMBC Aviation Capital (SMBC) to lease two new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, with deliveries scheduled for July and August 2027, the airline said.

The agreement was signed by Chief Executive Ahmed Shanan in the presence of Chairman and founder Hatem Kenawy and board members.

The airline will also take delivery of a Boeing 737-800 NG from Aergo Capital by the end of 2026, following a recent agreement with Boeing. It is in talks with international lessors for seven additional aircraft as it targets a fleet of 14 planes by 2028.

The fleet expansion is expected to strengthen Red Sea Airlines’ connectivity to Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada and Sphinx, as well as destinations serving the Red Sea region, the Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum.

The airline said it would continue to invest in safety, crew training, maintenance, technology and customer experience as it expands.
