Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) has signed a four-year agreement with AirBorneo Airways to provide maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for PW127M engines powering the airline’s ATR 72-500 turboprop fleet through 2030, the companies said.
AirBorneo operates its ATR 72-500 aircraft on Malaysia’s Rural Air Services network, which connects remote and underserved communities across East Malaysia.
The agreement is designed to help AirBorneo manage engine maintenance costs and support aircraft availability for the network, Pratt & Whitney Canada said.
“We worked closely with AirBorneo to develop a maintenance solution that manages engine costs and supports high dispatch availability for these critical flights,” said Anthony Rossi, vice president of customer service at P&WC.
The engines will be maintained primarily at Pratt & Whitney Canada’s Singapore facility, which serves as a customer-support hub for the Asia-Pacific region.
Recent investment at the Singapore site has expanded its turboprop MRO capabilities, strengthening its capacity to provide localised support to operators across the region, the company said.
