Finnair has raised its full-year 2026 revenue and comparable operating profit forecasts, citing stronger-than-expected air travel demand and successful exploitation of market opportunities despite higher fuel costs.
The Finnish airline now expects revenue of €3.5 billion to €3.6 billion and a comparable operating profit of €175 million to €220 million.
Its previous guidance, issued on July 22, alongside its half-year financial report, projected revenue of €3.4 billion to €3.5 billion and comparable operating profit of €120 million to €190 million.
Finnair said demand had remained stronger than anticipated, despite some of the impact of higher fuel costs being passed on to ticket prices. It added that implementation of its strategy had progressed well.
Third-quarter performance
Based on unaudited preliminary figures, Finnair expects third-quarter revenue to reach about €953 million, up from €834.9 million a year earlier.
Comparable operating profit is expected to rise to approximately €84 million from €50.7 million.
The airline will publish its January-September interim report on October 27.
2027 outlook
The company said the market had remained strong so far, but high fuel prices and uncertainty over their future development were expected to make it difficult to increase fuel hedging for 2027 from current levels.
Other uncertainties affecting the operating environment include inflation and interest rates.
