Rolls-Royce has secured an order from aircraft lessor Avolon for 70 Trent 7000 engines to power 35 Airbus A330neo aircraft.
The Trent 7000 is the exclusive engine for the A330neo, delivering 14% better fuel efficiency per seat than the previous-generation aircraft while significantly reducing emissions, Rolls-Royce said.
Will Pitcher, Head of Powerplant Strategy & Asset Solutions, Avolon, said: “The A330neo remains one of the most capable and efficient wide-body aircraft in the market today. Powered by the Trent 7000, it offers our airline customers a compelling combination of fuel efficiency, operational reliability and range. This order strengthens our ability to support customers’ fleet renewal and growth plans over the coming decade.”
The engine has accumulated more than five million flying hours and draws on technology developed across Rolls-Royce’s Trent engine family. Based on the Trent XWB, it has demonstrated strong reliability since entering service.
The Trent 7000 is certified to operate with a 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) blend and has been tested for compatibility with up to 100% SAF in the future.
