Pratt & Whitney has begun construction of a US$100 million facility in Rzeszów, Poland, to expand engine component production, with operations expected to start in 2028.
The investment, equivalent to 375 million zlotys, will add manufacturing capacity for critical rotating components used in commercial and military engines, including the Pratt & Whitney GTF, F135 and F100. The expansion is expected to create more than 120 jobs.
The Rzeszów site produces components for commercial and military engines, turboprops and auxiliary power units. Its output includes GTF fan drive gear systems, F100 static structures and components for the F135 fighter engine. The facility also manufactures engines from the PT6, PW200, PW500/600 and PW800 families, used in helicopters, business jets and general aviation aircraft.
The project follows a US$200 million investment announced in February in a seventh isothermal forging press at Pratt & Whitney’s Columbus Forge facility in Georgia, US. The two investments are expected to increase output of critical engine components, including rotating compressors and turbine disks, by 30% once fully operational by 2028.
Pratt & Whitney is part of RTX, which also owns Collins Aerospace and Raytheon. Poland is RTX’s largest investment and employment base outside the US, with more than 9,500 employees across its three businesses in the country.
