SkySelect has announced a successful partnership with MTU Maintenance, the MRO division of MTU Aero Engines, to modernise and optimise their engine parts sourcing processes. This collaboration marks a key step in the digital transformation of MTU Maintenance, specialising in aero engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO).
With operations spanning Europe, Asia, and the Americas, MTU Maintenance has long been renowned for its customised engine MRO services. However, its traditional sourcing methods, relying on manual supplier outreach and spreadsheet-based quote tracking, had become time-consuming and less efficient.
To overcome these challenges, MTU Maintenance partnered with SkySelect, a company known for driving digital transformation across the MRO sector. By integrating SkySelect’s platform, MTU has streamlined and accelerated its procurement processes, reducing the time spent sourcing quotes from suppliers by 20%. This digitalisation has enabled faster, more accurate sourcing.
The platform’s effectiveness in fostering supplier competition was also evident, with 80% of part numbers receiving at least three viable quotes. This has provided MTU with better pricing options for high-value engine parts, enabling the procurement team to focus on more strategic tasks such as price and contract negotiations.
Patrick Holzkamp, Director of Purchasing USM at MTU Maintenance Hannover GmbH, said, “Thanks to SkySelect, we’ve reduced the time spent sourcing parts while receiving competitive offers from suppliers, supporting our efforts to digitalise MTU Maintenance’s processes.”
Erkki Brakmann, CEO and Co-founder of SkySelect, praised MTU for their successful transition to digital its workflows, enhancing the effectiveness of its procurement operations.
