In April 2025, Frankfurt Airport (FRA) welcomed approximately 5.3 million passengers, marking a 4.8 percent increase compared to the same month the previous year. The airport experienced particularly strong demand for leisure flights to warm-weather destinations such as Italy, Spain, and Türkiye.

While passenger numbers rose, cargo volumes in Frankfurt saw a slight decline. The combined throughput of airfreight and airmail dropped by 1.1 percent year-on-year to 169,563 metric tonnes. Aircraft movements, however, rose by 4.3 percent to 39,168 take-offs and landings. Maximum take-off weights (MTOWs) also increased, reaching approximately 2.4 million metric tonnes—a 3.2 percent rise from April 2024.

Across its global network, the Fraport Group also reported continued growth in air travel. Ljubljana Airport (LJU) in Slovenia saw a 12.7 percent rise in passenger numbers, with 125,567 travellers. In Brazil, the airports of Fortaleza (FOR) and Porto Alegre (POA) together handled around 1.0 million passengers, up 7.2 percent year-on-year. Lima Airport (LIM) in Peru recorded an 8.4 percent increase, reaching roughly 2.0 million passengers.

Fraport’s 14 regional airports in Greece handled a total of 1.8 million passengers, representing a 4.9 percent annual increase. Traffic at Bulgaria’s coastal airports, Burgas (BOJ) and Varna (VAR), surged by 29.8 percent, with 128,058 passengers combined. Meanwhile, Antalya Airport (AYT) on Türkiye’s Riviera served 2.6 million passengers, up 6.6 percent.

Altogether, the Fraport Group’s airports welcomed around 13.0 million passengers in April 2025—an overall increase of 6.2 percent year-on-year.
