Safran Electrical & Power and H55, a Swiss-based company specialising in certified electric propulsion and certification-grade energy storage systems for aviation, have signed an agreement to integrate Safran’s ENGINeUS electric motor into H55’s electric propulsion system for the fully electric Bristell B23 Energic aircraft. The collaboration aims to deliver certified electric propulsion solutions for general aviation, targeting CS-23 / Part 23 Level 1 and 2 aircraft.
The partnership combines Safran’s EASA-certified ENGINeUS motor technology with H55’s expertise in energy storage and propulsion system integration. With certification remaining a key barrier in electric aviation, both companies have recently achieved significant EASA milestones. Building on this combined expertise, the collaboration is intended to accelerate the availability of certified electric propulsion solutions for next-generation aircraft in the two- to six-seat segment.
The Bristell B23 Energic programme will serve as the initial certification platform, focusing on the fast-growing electric pilot training market, where demand is driven by lower operating costs and zero-emission operations.
Safran Electrical & Power will support both the prototype and serial production phases from 2027, as well as providing dedicated in-service support.
