Collins Aerospace has announced that three international airlines have selected its Helix main cabin seat for upcoming narrow-body aircraft deliveries, covering approximately 200 aircraft across Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 families.
Designed to meet the evolving demands of single-aisle travel, the Helix seat focuses on improving passenger comfort while enhancing operational efficiency. Its ergonomic design is intended to create a more intuitive and comfortable seating experience, incorporating tactile elements and a range of customisable features. At the same time, the seat increases usable passenger space and reduces overall weight compared with previous generations, supporting airline efficiency goals.
According to Steve Kotso, Vice President and General Manager of Commercial Seating at Collins Aerospace, airlines are seeking cabin solutions that can support the next phase of narrow-body operations as fleets and network strategies continue to shift. He noted that early customer adoption reflects strong demand for a product that balances comfort, durability and efficiency in a changing market environment.
The Helix design combines form and function, with a focus on reducing part count and mechanical complexity. This approach is intended to improve reliability and passenger satisfaction without compromising seating density, a key consideration for airline economics. In addition, the use of premium materials and a carefully engineered structure contributes to lower lifecycle costs, while Collins’ global aftermarket support network is designed to ensure continuity of operations throughout the product’s service life.
The Helix seating platform remains under development, with initial shipsets scheduled to align with aircraft deliveries towards the end of 2027. The product is currently being showcased at the Aircraft Interiors Expo, where it is positioned as a next-generation solution for the future of narrow-body cabin design.
