FIGEAC AÉRO has secured a new multi-million-dollar agreement with one of its US customers, further expanding their partnership through the manufacture of wing spars for a civil aircraft programme.
The US customer, a manufacturer of both civil and military aircraft, has selected FIGEAC AÉRO Wichita (FIGEAC AÉRO North America) for its expertise in machining large aluminium structural components used in aircraft wings. These components form the primary load-bearing structure of the wing and are designed to withstand aerodynamic and operational stresses.
The latest agreement further strengthens a relationship established through an earlier contract involving wing structures for another aircraft programme. FIGEAC AÉRO Wichita said the award reflects the Group’s strategic strengths, including its specialist expertise in machining large aluminium components and its close operational proximity to customers.
Production will be carried out at the Group’s Wichita site and is scheduled to begin during the second half of the current financial year. The company said no major industrial investment will be required, as the work will be supported using existing production capabilities.
“This new contract demonstrates both the growth potential identified when the partnership was first launched and the opportunity to support the increasing requirements of our customers in both the civil and military sectors in the United States.” stated Shane Torgler, Director of FIGEAC AÉRO Wichita.
Benjamin Thomas, Chief Operating Officer for North America at FIGEAC AÉRO Group, acknowledged the company was encouraged by the progress of its North American operations, adding that the Wichita and Chihuahua facilities were meeting the Group’s expectations as key contributors to its wider business development strategy.
