American Airlines (American) will equip more than 500 narrow-body aircraft with Starlink high-speed satellite internet from the first quarter of 2027, marking a major upgrade to its inflight customer experience.
“As a premium global airline, we are continuously seeking out world-class partners like Starlink to deliver what our customers need and want,” said American Airlines Chief Customer Officer Heather Garboden. “The addition of Starlink solidifies American as a leading airline in keeping passengers connected in flight.”
The airline’s Airbus narrow-body fleet, including incoming A321XLR and A321neo aircraft, will gain access to Starlink’s low Earth orbit broadband network, enabling faster and more reliable connectivity for streaming, online gaming, video calls and real-time communication on domestic and short-haul international flights.
Starlink’s Aero Terminal technology can deliver speeds of up to 1 Gbps per antenna, supporting a significantly enhanced onboard internet experience across American’s narrow-body operations.
