Neuberger Specialty Finance (NBSF) has agreed with a group of aerospace finance professionals to launch New Bridge AeroFinance, an aerospace financing platform that will originate and acquire loans and other debt instruments across the sector.
The platform, which will be led by Richard Moody alongside co-founders and principals Debbie Frew and William Glaister, initially aims to build a portfolio worth more than US$2 billion.
New Bridge Aero will target asset-based investments designed to provide downside protection and durable cash flows, NBSF said.
Moody most recently served as global head of aviation finance at Hamburg Commercial Bank and previously led transportation finance globally at Deutsche Bank. Frew has held senior aviation finance roles at Hamburg Commercial Bank and Deutsche Bank, while Glaister previously served as global head of asset finance at law firm Clifford Chance.
NBSF is the asset-based finance arm of Neuberger, a private, independent and employee-owned investment manager with US$613 billion in assets across equities, fixed income, private equity, real estate and hedge funds.
Since launching its strategy in 2018, NBSF has managed more than US$5 billion across more than 50 portfolio companies and investment vehicles. The group, led by Peter Sterling, has invested more than US$16 billion through 80 global origination partners, including commercial banks and fintech firms, across thousands of underlying loans.
