TAT Technologies has partnered with French aerospace company Beyond Aero to help define the thermal management architecture for its hydrogen-electric business aircraft programme, the companies said.
Beyond Aero is developing the ONE, a clean-sheet aircraft designed around hydrogen-electric propulsion that aims to carry six passengers up to 800 nautical miles (1,500 km), about five times farther than comparable battery-powered aircraft.
The Toulouse- and Paris-based company, which also operates in Los Angeles, was founded in 2020 and focuses on fuel-cell propulsion, gaseous hydrogen storage and advanced thermal management. It has more than 80 aerospace engineers, it said.
As part of the collaboration, Beyond Aero is integrating TAT Technologies’ Universal Cooling System (UCS) into the ONE design. The scalable thermal management system is designed to provide cooling across a range of operating conditions while meeting the size, weight and performance requirements of electric and hydrogen-electric aircraft.
