Western Massachusetts aerospace company WGI plans to invest about US$19 million to build a 68,000 ft² maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility at its existing Southwick campus, the company said.
The new facility will house WGI MRO and expand the company’s capacity to service precision aerospace components, with specialised equipment, higher production capacity and additional MRO capabilities.
The project is expected to create 30 new jobs and has received approval for US$450,000 in tax credits under Massachusetts’ Economic Development Incentive Program, WGI said.
The investment comes as the 85-year-old, family-owned company seeks to expand its MRO business and meet demand from a growing customer base.
WGI said the project would also support aerospace manufacturing and repair activity in western Massachusetts.
