Deutsche Aircraft has officially opened a final assembly line at Leipzig/Halle Airport, marking the transition of its D328eco regional aircraft programme from development to serial production.
The company said the facility, representing an investment of more than €100 million, will make Leipzig the production hub for the next-generation aircraft and restore aircraft manufacturing to Saxony for the first time in more than 60 years.
The 60,500 m² site includes the final assembly line, a flight readiness hangar, logistics centre and administration building. It has been designed to produce up to 48 aircraft a year.
The opening strengthens Deutsche Aircraft’s integrated operations in Germany, linking engineering, certification, flight testing, industrialisation, final assembly and customer delivery across its sites in Oberpfaffenhofen and Leipzig.
The company said the facility would help retain key aircraft manufacturing expertise in Germany and strengthen the country’s aerospace industrial base.
The D328eco programme is built around the company’s “Made in Germany. Built in Saxony. Delivered to the World” strategy, combining German aircraft engineering with Saxony’s industrial base and Leipzig’s international transport links.
