RECARO Aircraft Seating will supply its R2 seats to American Airlines for the first time this autumn, expanding the German manufacturer’s presence on Embraer aircraft.
The seat was selected for its pre-certification status and ability to meet the US carrier’s entry-into-service schedule. Designed for short- and medium-haul flights, the R2 features a tablet holder and a six-way adjustable headrest.
Its slim backrest is designed to increase personal space and knee clearance, while customised seat covers will match American Airlines’ updated cabin interiors.
“As the first U.S. airline to introduce RECARO seats on an Embraer 175 aircraft, we’re continuing to raise the base for regional travel,” said Rhonda Crawford, Senior Vice President of Customer Experience Design and Strategy. “Our goal is to deliver the elevated experience customers want, while creating greater consistency across the American travel experience.”
