Iberia has agreed to sell a minority stake in IAG Engine Tech (IET), a company established in 2026 to specialise in aircraft engine maintenance within International Airlines Group (IAG), to Japanese trading and investment group ITOCHU Corporation.
IAG will retain a majority stake in IET through Iberia, the companies said.
ITOCHU’s investment builds on its existing relationship with Iberia and IAG through aircraft leasing operations. The partnership is expected to support IET’s expansion and strengthen its international presence as IAG seeks to grow its engine maintenance business.
The deal forms part of Iberia’s broader maintenance business transformation and its long-term strategy under Flight Plan 2030, Iberia Chairman and Chief Executive Marco Sansavini said.
ITOCHU would bring investment capacity, international reach and industry experience to help develop IET’s business in a market with significant growth prospects, Sansavini said.
ITOCHU’s entry into IET’s share capital is expected to take effect in early 2027, subject to the necessary regulatory approvals and consents.
