The Hellenic Ministry of National Defense has signed a contract to acquire three KC-390 Millennium military transport aircraft from Embraer, with options for a further three. The agreement was concluded through a government-to-government arrangement between Greece and Portugal.
The Hellenic Ministry of National Defence said the Hellenic Air Force is expected to receive its first KC-390 in 2027. The aircraft will strengthen Greece’s airlift and air-to-air refuelling capabilities while improving interoperability with NATO and allied forces.
The agreement will also provide Greece with access to European co-operation in training, technical support and logistics.
Greece becomes the seventh European country to select the KC-390, joining Portugal, Hungary, the Netherlands, Austria, the Czech Republic and Sweden.
The growing number of European orders reflects increasing interest among EU and NATO member states in the aircraft as a solution for current and future military transport requirements.
