SkyWest reported December 2011 traffic for SkyWest Airlines, Atlantic Southeast Airlines and ExpressJet Airlines. Combined traffic for December increased 3.8%, while capacity increased 2.6% compared to December 2010. Combined load factor was 78.5%, up 0.9 points compared to December 2010.
Former Hewlett Packard Norway’s CEO, Eivind Roald, will become the new head of Sales & Marketing of SAS Scandinavian Airlines. Roald will join SAS’ group management team, which will now be complete following last September’s restructure that took place in conjunction with the launch of SAS’ new strategy 4Excellence.
CASCO announced the appointment of Michael Davis as Non-Executive Overseas Director. Mike will bring with him to the Board of CASCO a wealth of knowledge and advice in their current growth market. He is currently CEO of Midair S.A Geneva, and also has controlling interest in Midair USA Inc. & Midair Aviation (Ireland).
Frontier’s traffic increased 7% in December 2011, while capacity was flat. Frontier Airlines reported a load factor of 85%, up 5.0 points to the previous year.
IAG traffic rose by 12.2% versus December 2010, while capacity was up 11.5% compared to the same period in 2010. The load factor for the month was up 0.6 pts to 77.6%.
American Eagle reported a December traffic increase of 8.8% year-over-year as capacity increased 9.0%. December load factor was 72.2%, a decrease of 0.2 points compared to the same period last year.
American Airlines reported a December load factor of 80.8%, an increase of 0.2 points versus the same period last year. Capacity was lower by 1.2%, while traffic was lower 0.9% year-over-year.
Alaska reported a 6.2% increase in traffic on a 4.0% increase in capacity compared to December 2010. This resulted in a 1.8-point increase in load factor to a December record of 87.4%. Horizon reported a 17.5% decline in December traffic on a 17.6% decline in capacity compared to December 2010. This resulted in a 0.1-point increase in load factor to a
US Airways Group announced December 2011 traffic results. Mainline traffic for the month was up 3.6% versus December 2010. Mainline capacity was up 2.2% versus December 2010 and mainline load factor was a record 81.9% up 1.1 points versus December 2010.
Aerolineas Argentinas has leased three 1996 vintage Airbus A340-300s from two investment funds managed ICON Capital Corp. The aircraft were most recently operated by Cathay Pacific Airways, Hong Kong and will now be leased to Aerolineas for 6 years.
