LAN Airlines S.A. and its subsidiaries reported its preliminary monthly traffic statistics for August 2011. System passenger traffic increased 14.1% as capacity rose 12.7%. As a result, the Company’s load factor for the month increased 0.9 points to 78.7%.
Finnair traffic rose by 11.1% in August 2011, as the overall capacity grew by 13.3% compared with August 2010. Overall load factor for the month dropped 1.5 pts to 76.9%. Finnair’s Asian capacity grew by 28.7% and traffic increased by 20.3% compared to August 2010. The load factor reached 81.2%, down 5.7 pts.
Spanish airline Vueling reported a 15.9% increase in traffic in August 2011 and a 13.7% increase in capacity compared to the same period in 2010. The company reached a load factor of. 83.7%, 1.6 points higher than last year.
AirFrance KLM released that traffic rose by 7.6% in August 2011, while capacity was up by 6.1%.This resulted in a 1.2 point rise in load factor to 85.7%. The group carried 6.8 million passengers (+4.7%).
For the month of August 2011, Copa Holdings’ system-wide passenger traffic increased 17.8%. System load factor for August 2011 was 75.1%, in line with August 2010 and capacity was up 17.7% compared to the previous year.
Southwest Airlines reported August 2011 combined traffic results for Southwest Airlines and AirTran. Combined traffic in August 2011 increassed 3.9% compared to the same period in 2010, while capacity increased 4.2%. The load factor for August 2011 was 82.6%, compared to the combined load factor of 82.8% in August 2010.
Republic Airways Holdings reported preliminary passenger traffic results for August 2011. The Company reported that traffic decrease 1% from the same month last year, while capacity was down 2%. Consolidated load factor was 84% in August of both years.
Delta Air Lines reported traffic results for August 2011. System traffic in August 2011 decreased 0.3% compared to August 2010 on a 0.8% decrease in capacity. System load factor of 86.9% was 0.4 points higher than the prior year.
US Airways Group reported August 2011 traffic results. Mainline traffic for the month was up 1.2% versus August 2010 while mainline capacity was down 1.3% versus August 2010. Mainline passenger load factor was a record 87.4% for the month of August, up 2.2 points versus August 2010.
Porter Airlines reported an August load factor of 68.7%, 4.8 points higher than the previous year. Traffic for the month increased 28.1% while capacity was up 19.2% compared to the same period in 2010.
