International Aero Engines reported Singapore-based low-cost airline group Tiger Airways had chosen the V2500 to power 20 Airbus A320 family aircraft. All engines will be of the SelectOne build standard and will be backed by a long-term V2500Select agreement.
The combined engine purchase and aftermarket agreement is valued at $580 million to IAE. Tiger Airways currently operates a fleet of 12 V2500-powered Airbus A320 family aircraft, with 58 on firm order with deliveries through to 2016.
The V2500-A5 is available in seven different thrust settings ranging from 22,000 lbs. to 33,000 lbs. to power the Airbus A319, A320 and A321 family of aircraft as well as the A319 Corporate Jet.
