Kuehne+Nagel has strengthened its collaboration with Airbus through the renewal of a logistics agreement covering production and storage facilities across Spain, while also expanding into helicopter maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) support for the first time.
The renewed and extended contract includes a wide range of services such as in-plant logistics, inter-site transport, warehouse-to-line deliveries, supply fulfilment centre operations and spare parts management. To support these activities, Kuehne+Nagel has deployed more than 900 employees across 16 key sites located in Albacete, Cádiz, Madrid, Sevilla, Toledo and Zaragoza.
The logistics company has invested significantly in advanced technologies to enhance operational efficiency and ensure full traceability throughout the supply chain. These innovations include a proprietary warehouse management system, robotics for improved handling, a small-parts element control system using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), and Internet of Things (IoT) applications. These solutions are aimed at optimising productivity and delivering seamless, data-driven logistics support to Airbus.
Sustainability is also a key focus of the renewed partnership, with initiatives designed to reduce cardboard and plastic usage throughout Airbus' supply chain operations. This aligns with both companies' environmental objectives and efforts to reduce the overall environmental footprint of aviation logistics.
Álvaro Nebreda, National Contract Logistics Manager for Kuehne+Nagel in Spain, commented: “We are honoured to continue supporting Airbus with tailored logistics solutions that integrate digital innovation, operational efficiency, and a commitment to sustainability. This collaboration underscores our dedication to the aerospace sector and highlights our adaptability to meet the evolving demands of our customers.”
