ST Engineering’s Commercial Aerospace business has expanded its longstanding partnership with LOT Polish Airlines (LOT) with the signing of a new five-year nacelle MRO agreement covering the carrier’s fleet of 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The exclusive agreement not only renews ST Engineering’s role as LOT’s nacelle MRO provider but also introduces a structured refurbishment programme that integrates predictive maintenance methodologies into the airline’s nacelle lifecycle strategy.
The enhanced scope of the partnership represents a shift in how nacelle maintenance is planned and executed for LOT’s 787 operations. Rather than relying on a predominantly reactive maintenance approach, the new programme adopts a more data-driven framework designed to improve long-term planning and decision-making. By embedding predictive reliability modelling and soft time-based scheduling, the initiative aims to reduce unscheduled removals, improve turnaround performance and strengthen overall asset integrity, while providing greater visibility and control over maintenance costs.
For LOT Polish Airlines, the move is intended to enhance operational resilience and aircraft availability across its long-haul network. Nacelles are critical, high-value components, and unexpected maintenance events can result in significant disruption and cost. The structured refurbishment programme is designed to mitigate these risks by anticipating maintenance requirements earlier in the lifecycle, allowing interventions to be planned more efficiently and aligned with operational priorities.
Wiktor Radon, Technical Operations Managing Director at LOT Polish Airlines, said: “This programme is a strategic investment in operational efficiency and long-term value creation for fleet resilience. Predictive maintenance provides measurable advantages: fewer unscheduled events, assured turnaround times, and enhanced aircraft availability — outcomes that underpin our financial objectives and reinforce service continuity for our customers.”
