Hawaiian Airlines flight attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants – CWA (AFA-CWA), have voted to ratify a contract extension lasting nearly three years. The agreement was approved by 88% of voting members, reflecting strong support among the airline’s cabin crew.

This contract extension comes at a critical time as Hawaiian Airlines continues the process of integration with Alaska Airlines. One of the primary aims of the agreement is to align the amendable dates of both airlines’ contracts, laying the groundwork for a future joint collective bargaining agreement (JCBA). This alignment will support smoother negotiations as the two carriers move forward in unifying operations.

Lokesh Amaranayaka, Vice President of Airport Operations and Inflight at Hawaiian Airlines, welcomed the outcome, stating: “We’re pleased to have reached this agreement with our flight attendants… we deeply value the role our flight attendants have in the success of our company, and this contract extension positions us well for the future of our combined airlines.”

The original contract was due to become amendable in April 2025. However, with this extension in place, Hawaiian and Alaska Airlines are now better positioned to create a unified approach for over 9,200 combined flight attendants. Negotiations for the JCBA began in March, led by AFA-CWA’s joint negotiating Committee and representatives from both airlines’ labour relations teams.

The ratified extension not only ensures continuity but also signals a cooperative effort between management and crew during a transformative period for the newly merging airline group.
