Saudi Arabia’s The Helicopter Company (THC) is expanding into fixed-wing business aviation after signing a letter of intent with Bombardier for up to 60 business jets.
Announced at the Farnborough International Airshow, the deal covers a firm order for 12 aircraft – comprising five Challenger 3500s, five Global 5500s and two Global 8000s – with options for a further 48 aircraft.
The move marks THC’s entry into the private charter and aircraft management market, broadening its operations beyond helicopters as demand for business aviation grows in Saudi Arabia, driven by tourism, business activity and new destinations.
THC said it intends to build a fleet of up to 60 Bombardier Challenger and Global aircraft, targeting the super-midsize, long-range and ultra-long-range segments. Bombardier said the agreement reinforces its long-term commitment to Saudi Arabia and supports the kingdom’s expanding business aviation market.
