Delta Air Lines reported traffic results for June 2009. System traffic in June 2009, including both Delta and Northwest operations, decreased 6.3% compared to June 2008 on a 5.8% decrease in capacity, and load factor declined 0.5 points to 85.5%.

United Airlines reported its preliminary consolidated traffic results for June 2009. The company reported a June consolidated passenger load factor of 85.9%, up 0.5 pts compared to June 2008. Total consolidated traffic decreased in June by 7.5% on a consolidated capacity decrease of 8.0% compared with the same period in 2008.

WestJet announced June traffic results with a load factor of 72.9%. Traffic decreased 7.1% year over year and capacity declined 2.5% over the same period.

American Airlines reported a June load factor of 85.1%, a decrease of 0.3 points versus the same period last year. Traffic decreased 8.1% and capacity decreased 7.8% year over year.

AirTran Airways reported traffic for the month of June 2009. The airline reported that traffic was down 6.5% compared to the same period last year, capacity was down 5.3% and the load factor for the month was 83.6%, down 1.1 pts compared to June 2008.

BA reported that June 2009 capacity was 1.7% below June 2008, traffic fell by 3.8%. This resulted in a passenger load factor decrease of 1.8 points versus last year, to 79.6%. Traffic comprised a 14.9% decrease in premium traffic and a 1.3% fall in non-premium traffic.

Continental Airlines reported a consolidated (mainline plus regional) traffic decrease of 6.5% and a capacity decrease of 7.8% as compared to June 2008. June consolidated load factor was 84.8%, 1.1 points above the June 2008 consolidated load factor.

Republic Airways reported a 4.5% increase in traffic for June 2009, while capacity increased 3.5%. The load factor was 79.3% versus 78.5% in June 2008. Approximately 1.8 million passengers were carried during the month, a 3.2% increase from the same month last year.

Alaska reported an increase in load factor to 80.7% in June 2009, compared to 79.5% in June 2008, on a 4.1% decline in capacity compared to the prior-year period. Traffic for June decreased 2.6% compared to the same period last year.

In May Finnair’s traffic declined by 11% from the previous year. Scheduled traffic in May was 9.8% lower than in 2008. Asian traffic declined by 10.8% and North American traffic by 7.0%.
