Lufthansa will begin operating its first Airbus A350-1000 on passenger flights on December 3, 2026, with a service from Munich to Tokyo’s Haneda airport, as the German airline expands its long-haul fleet.

The aircraft, due to arrive in Munich from Airbus’ Toulouse facilities in mid-November, will initially serve Tokyo before Shanghai and Singapore are added to the schedule in the following weeks. Flights will feature Lufthansa’s Allegris cabin and be operated by the A350-1000 and A350-900 alternately.

The first aircraft, registered as D-AIFA and named Deutschland, marks several milestones for Lufthansa. It is the 700th aircraft delivered by Airbus to the Lufthansa Group and the seventh in the airline group’s special fleet celebrating its 100th anniversary.

Lufthansa has ordered 15 A350-1000s, with deliveries scheduled through 2030. The first ten aircraft will be operated by Lufthansa and based at its Munich hub.

At 73.8 metres long, the A350-1000 is about seven metres longer than the A350-900. Lufthansa’s aircraft will accommodate 300 passengers across four classes: First, Business, Premium Economy and Economy.

The cabin will feature four first-class seats, including two individual suites and a larger Suite Plus, alongside 49 business-class seats, 35 premium-economy seats and 212 economy seats.
