magniX, the driving force behind the electric aviation revolution, disclosed the appointment of Reed Macdonald as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Macdonald will assume leadership at magniX as it prepares its groundbreaking electric powertrains for entry into service.
With a career spanning over 25 years in aerospace, finance, defence, and manufacturing, Macdonald has held numerous board and senior executive positions. Notably, he served as CEO and Board Member at FDS Avionics, a manufacturer of electronics equipment for the business aviation and military sectors. Macdonald brings extensive financial and commercial acumen to his new role at magniX, having overseen investments in companies across various industries.
magniX's fully integrated electric powertrains are at the forefront of the race for certification, heralding a new era of environmentally friendly aviation. magniX stands as the sole company to have powered groundbreaking flights by five different aircraft, including the inaugural flight of the first all-electric commuter airplane, Eviation's Alice, and the lengthiest and highest altitude journeys by a hydrogen electric aircraft. In April, magniX secured a letter of intent from Harbour Air, North America's largest seaplane airline, for 50 magni650 engines.
“It is an exciting time for magniX as its groundbreaking technology takes giant leaps toward making zero-emissions flight a commercial reality,” said Reed Macdonald, magniX's incoming CEO. “I look forward to working with the magniX team to bring our industry-leading electric powertrains to the marketplace and to accelerate the transition to sustainable aviation.”
“magniX is entering a significant new phase in our game-changing technology's progress toward Entry Into Service,” said John Saabas, Chairman of magniX. “Reed's commercial experience and expertise are well-suited to steward magniX through this chapter in our journey to change the history of aviation.”
